Not Just a Puzzle is an independent publishing brand on a simple mission: turn screen-free time into something that builds something — focus, vocabulary, culture, calm, connection.

Founded by author and educator Ferrai White, every book in our catalog — word searches, activity books, mandala coloring, journals, character-growth titles — is designed to do double duty: genuinely fun, and quietly building real skills along the way. We make the kind of books we’d hand our own families.

What we believe

• Every age belongs. Puzzles are one of the few products that work just as well for a third-grader as for a grandparent. We design for the whole arc.
• Screen-free has value. A paper puzzle outlasts a battery, doesn’t ping you, and leaves the room a little calmer than it found it.
• Made for every kind of mind. As an autism-community advocate, Ferrai designs with sensory-friendly and neurodivergent readers in mind — clear layouts, calming themes, and inclusive content.
• Independent and proud. No giant publisher behind us. Every book is researched, written, designed, and tested by a small team that cares.

What we publish

Our catalog spans six collections: Word Search (pop culture, themed, educational), Versus Battles (the only word searches you can race — head-to-head competitive play), Coloring & Mandala (relaxation, stress relief, mindful design), Journals (daily dialogue, couples connection), Character & Growth (self-development for younger readers), and Kids (learning & play, ages 5+).

We publish independently through Amazon KDP — which means our paperbacks are printed and shipped from Amazon’s network, and you get the same Prime delivery you’re used to. We also offer printable PDF editions and bonus packs directly through this site, for the times you want it now, on your printer, on your terms.
