Riddle of the Day

A new brain teaser daily. Hint button. Reveal answer.

How Riddle of the Day works

One classic riddle every day. Riddles are short questions with a clever, often surprising answer — and they have been a favourite way to sharpen wits for thousands of years. Peek at a hint if you are stuck, reveal the answer when you give up, or press Another One for more.

How it works

  1. Read the riddle carefully — every word matters.
  2. Press Hint for a clue, or Reveal Answer to see it.
  3. Press Another One for a new riddle, or Share to send it to a friend.

How to crack a riddle

  • Think literally, then figuratively. Riddles often describe something ordinary in a poetic way — “has a face but no eyes” is a clock.
  • List the clues. Write each property down separately, then think of things that fit all of them.
  • Watch for double meanings. “Keys” might open a door or sit on a piano.

Ways to use it

Language and inference skills

Solving riddles practises inference — using clues to reach a conclusion — a key reading-comprehension skill.

Car rides and waiting rooms

No equipment needed: read it out and let everyone guess.
