Flashcard Maker

Paste term/definition pairs. Flip, shuffle, quiz yourself.

How to study with the Flashcard Maker

Paste term-and-definition pairs and the Flashcard Maker turns them into a deck you can flip through, shuffle, and quiz yourself on. Rate each card as Again, Hard, or Good as you study, or switch to Quiz Mode to test yourself. Your deck saves automatically in your browser, and sample decks — Biology, States and Capitals, the Periodic Table, Spanish, SAT vocabulary, and Maths terms — let you try it straight away.

How it works

  1. Paste one card per line. Separate the term and definition with a tab, comma, hyphen, or ::.
  2. Choose Study Deck to flip through cards, or Quiz Mode to test yourself.
  3. In study mode, rate each card Again, Hard, or Good so you know what to review.
  4. Use Shuffle to change the order and Restart to begin again.

Study tips that are backed by research

  • Test yourself, don’t just reread. Trying to recall an answer before flipping — called retrieval practice — is one of the most reliable ways to remember.
  • Space it out. Three 10-minute sessions over three days beat one 30-minute session the night before.
  • Shuffle every time. Learning cards in a fixed order means you partly remember the order rather than the answers.
  • Keep cards small. One fact per card. Long definitions are hard to recall and hard to check.

Ways to use it

Test preparation

Pair a deck with the Pomodoro Timer for 25-minute sprints.
